The Chicago Department of Transportation is holding a meeting Thursday about a planned consolidation of two Loop stations into one "super station."
CDOT plans to combine the Madison/Wabash and Randolph/Wabash stations into a single station at Washington Street and Wabash Avenue. The station would have elevators to make it accessible for riders with disabilities, an escalator and a new mezzanine.
The hearing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St.
The consolidation, which has been estimated to cost $75 million, was supposed to be complete by September. CDOT spokesman Pete Scales said the timeline changed because additional environmental studies were required.
CDOT last month released a draft assessment of the project's potential impact on the environment. Written comments about the report are due to CDOT, WashingtonWabashEA@cityofchicago.org, by April 4.
